I was born in Chicago, Illinois in the mid-sixties. I first became aware of music watching my parents dance to R&B records. My formal music education began at age 9 playing the clarinet. My younger brother, Eugene thought school band music was blasé so he turned me on to rock and roll. The combined exposure of early rhythm and blues, rock and roll, plus school band music influence how I make music to this day. I met Pork Belly Wallace in high school and we formed The Orbitals in 1987.
